Live Tour de France - Watch Online

The most famous cycling race in the world, the Tour de France is seen as the ultimate test in speed and stamina for cyclists. This year the Tour de France kicks off in England and runs from Saturday the 5th of July until Sunday the 27th of July. With only 2 rest days for the whole event that's 21 days of heart pumping action for the worlds cycling elite.

This year the Tour de France comprises of 21 stages and covers 3656 kilometres. Of the 21 stages 10 are flat, 6 are mountain, 4 are classed as medium mountain stages whilst and there is just the 1 individual time trial. From the start in Leeds (Yorkshire) to the finish at the Champs-?lys?es in Paris it's sure to be yet another classic race. Almost every year the Tour de France turns up surprises, drama but most of all excellent cycle racing. With the narrow roads of Yorkshire and the cobbled roads of some of the early stages this year will surely be no different.

With the Tour de France being the best known cycle race in the world you can be sure of huge amounts of media interest in the event. In fact the Tour is the 3rd most watched sport even in the world, only coming behind the World Cup and Summer Olympics. The TV rights have been sold far and wide and many of those TV companies are choosing to broadcast live streams of the Tour de France over the internet. Namely France Televisions in France, RTL in Luxemburg, TV2 in Denmark and ARD-ZDF in Germany will be showing geolocalised live streams over the internet. The all sports/other sports links on the schedules page will be able to show you what channels are showing the Tour de France live and when. In the UK ITV4 will be covering the Tour de France in 2014 as always, you can find details of the program times on the ITV website, once you know what is showing you can watch live streams of the Tour de France by following the link and selecting ITV4.

Of course the big question on the lips of all UK cycling fans this year is just how many stages will Manx man Mark Cavendish win at the Tour de France and can team Sky help Chris Froome retain his Yellow Jersey title from last year.
