Hull City Association Football Club, or Hull City A.F.C., is an English football club based in Kingston upon Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, and the team was founded in 1904. Due to their striped shirts, the team has been affectionately referred to as "The Tigers" and they have adopted "Roary the Tiger" as their mascot. Although the team spent many years at their former grounds, Boothferry Park, in 2002, they moved to their new home at KC Stadium.

In the 2007-2008 season, they achieved promotion to the English Premier League for the first time in their history, by winning a Championship play-off. Their first season in the Premier League saw Hull City have an impressive beginning, seeing them reach the top ten for most of the first half of the season. Ultimately, they finished the season in 17th place in the Premier League table, just outside the relegation zone.

Hull City's early days saw their matches being played at "The Boulevard," which was the actual home of the local Rugby Team of the time. Since they were not allowed to apply for membership until the following season, their first games were played as friendlies. Their very first competitive match was in the FA Cup, but they were eliminated on an aggregate score of 7-4 versus Stockton City. Hull City moved to Anlaby Road Cricket Ground, and gained admittance into the Football League Second Division for the 1905-1906 season, along with other notable teams such as Manchester United and Chelsea. Hull City won their first game of the season, and ended up finishing in fifth place. The following years saw Hull City constantly going from Second to Third Divisions of football.

Hull City finished as Runners-Up in Division Three in the 2003-2004 Season, and this got them onto an impressive run. The 2004-2005 Season saw them again Runners-Up, but this time in League One. After these two seasons, Hull City found them back into the Championship. This season was their first time back into the Second Tier of English Football. They did not finish well this season, and ended at 18th Place in the table. However, they did finish 10 points above he relegation zone, and it was their highest League finish in 16 years. They continued their impressive run as they wer promoted to the Top Tier, the English Premier League, in the 2007-2008 Season.
